It's not the most technically impressive title you'll ever see, certainly, but it's perfect for the franchise. In fact, it's immediately clear once you've got the tutorial out of the way that the entire game is still fundamentally intact apart from the addition of a few new weapons (the gas grenades and nuclear attacks, for example), and this is probably to the relief of teary-eyed nostalgia and to the disgust of dismissive remake cynics. It really does house one of the finest multiplayer experiences we've had to date, and one that remains largely unchanged. The 'playful' bickering that often ensues may result in hospital treatment, but at least you can laugh about it afterwards. The majority of the Worms charm comes from being able to crowd round one computer or console with your chums and devise the cruelest, most callous way of offing your mate's earth-dwellers. Overall, SilverFast scan software works on a quite logical basis, with tools that follow the workflow from left to right and top to bottom. The latter is paramount because a film scan, while digital files result, does not have the leeway that a digital camera file provides: you are in essence “locking in” certain parameters when scanning. Secondly, do not be lazy about making corrections that you assume you can correct later. For many years, much of my work was on a variety of black-and-white negative films and while I was fairly diligent about proper archival materials for storage there were some inevitable mars and blemishes on older images. ![]() When I first got word of this new SRDx feature in SilverFast Ai Studio 8 I was eager to try it out. Could SRDx help me rescue this image before it deteriorated more? While stored in archival materials, tide and time did its number and there is embedded dust and some scratches on this negative, not atypical of work from that far back. Here’s a very small detail of a shot made on Tri-X in 1974. SRDx, which comes in SilverFast’s Ai Studio 8 scanner software, is a dust and scratch removal clean-up tool for black-and-white negatives and Kodachrome. That’s all changed with a new breakthrough in scanning technology from LaserSoft Imaging called SRDx, which can work with scanners without the need for installed IR-channel capability. This made cleanup of these images a particularly laborious task that required patience, skill and select image editing programs. The only problem was that because of the distinct nature of their emulsions, black-and-white negatives and specifically Kodachrome slides could not benefit from this procedure. This software/hardware solution worked with numerous scanners by isolating the offending dust and scratches on a separate infrared channel that it then dumped when the final scan was made. Digital Ice and similar dust and scratch cleanup tools for scanning color negative and non-Kodachrome slides was a boon for those looking to archive/digitize their film files. ![]() ![]() ![]() “When it makes it’s way to my desk, I will approach it in a very positive way,” he said. ![]() House Bill 2006 is going to the governor’s desk following passage by the Senate in a 33-1 vote.
