From a narrative point of view, Drakengard 3 is an interesting work that manages to capture and excite until the last minute. All to culminate in the last and almost unattainable final quarter (which we will talk about later) which tries to close the story by finally giving meaning to our work. To make things more complicated, but at the same time interesting for the player, it is precisely the endings and new paths that open up by ending the previous ones, bringing up theories related to the presence of multiverses that face the implications in full "what if" spirit narratives from various perspectives, often changing their traits and meanings. The story will gradually become more complex, it will deal with uncomfortable topics often far from the world of video games such as religion and sexuality, addressing moral issues such as love for family and friends, all using direct and raw language, making use of a sometimes necessary violence that lead to tragicomic situations and a grotesque taste. Not only will almost none of our questions be answered, but the plot will thicken even more, making it almost natural to want to know more and throw yourself headlong back into the new chapters that will unlock. Getting to see the credits for the first time leaves the player in a state of confusion and disbelief. Deprived of an arm and of the right eye in whose cavity a mysterious flower is now placed, Zero will face her sisters one by one until she gets to face One, the most feared and powerful of the group.įor those who have had the opportunity to play one of the previous games in the series or the never too praised one Nier, which is part of the saga as a spin-off of the first title, completing Drakengard 3 will only be the beginning of our adventure. Zero, just like the cold protagonist of Tarantino's film, will begin a journey focused on revenge, after having survived the deadly confrontation told in the prologue. Comparing Drakengard 3 to a movie, the first approach that comes to mind is definitely a Kill Bill in fantasy version. The choice to propose the game as a prequel proves to be sensible and targeted to bring even those who have never played one of the previous titles to the series, although there are countless references and links to the universe of Drakengard and the respective games within the title Access Games, which for any lover of the series are almost essential. The reason for all this is not known and it will be up to us to embark on a journey to discover the real intentions of Zero that lie behind his mission. Drakengard 3, which is narratively placed as a prequel to the first two chapters, follows the story of Zero, the elder sister of the five saviors, ready without hesitation to kill them one by one. As always in legends, however, the incredible happens and humanity is saved by five sisters called Intoner, who using the power of magic born of their song, brought peace and serenity. A world in disarray and without a future. The story tells of a world tormented by wars and conflicts. Today is the turn of Drakengard 3 (known in Japan as Drag-On Dragoon 3), the new chapter of the Square Enix action-rpg series that appeared on PlayStation 2 by the late Cavia team 10 years ago and that timidly returns to our screens at the hands of Access Games, available only in digital format on PlayStation Network. And while the focus is on what E3 has in store for us, older generation consoles continue to churn out titles without fear of competition. We are now turned with our heads to the future, to this next gen that still fails to mesh.
